Peterboroughska katedrala in Peterborough

Peterboroughska katedrala (engleski: Peterborough Cathedral, službeno Katedralna crkva sv. Petra, sv. Pavla i sv. Andrije engleski: Cathedral Church of St Peter, St Paul and St Andrew – također poznata i kao Katedrala svetog Petra je crkva koja predstavlja sjedište engleskog (anglikanskog) biskupa Peterborougha. Prvi put je podignuta u anglosaksonskom periodu, ali je značajno dograđena u 12. vijeku (završena 1237.) postavši jednim od najznačajnijih primjera normanske arhitekture. Uz katedrale u Durhamu i Elyju se smatra jednom od najznačajnijih engleskih crkava sagrađenih u 12. vijeku.

Visit this impressive Norman Cathedral. Check out the Norman Arch leading to the Cathedral Square (Oldest working gateway in Europe) and check out the fan vault right at the back of the cathedral.

After her execution at nearby Fotheringhay Castle, Mary Queen of Scots was buried here on 30 July 1587 by order of Elizabeth I. However, in 1612, James I had her remains brought to Westminster Abbey.
