Opatija Fontevraud

Opatija Fontevraud (francuski: Abbaye de Fontevraud), rjeđe Opatija Fontevrault je kompleks građevina u francuskom selu Fontevraud-l'Abbaye, kraj Chinona u oblasti Anjou, u kome se trenutno nalazi kulturni centar. Nastao je kao katolički samostan, koji je godine 1100. osnovao putujući propovjednik Robert od Arbrisela; predstavljao je dvostruki samostan u kome su zajedno živjeli redovnici i redovnice, a mjesto opatice su preuzimale neke od najbogatijih i najuglednijih plemkinja Francuske. Samostan je brzo stekao međunarodnu reputaciju pa su se u Evropi po njegovom uzoru gradile "fontevrstičke" opatije. U njemu su, između ostalih, sahranjeni engleski kraljevi Henry I i Richard I. Godine 1792. je službeno ukinut za vrijeme Francuske revolucije, a 1804. je prenamijenjen u zatvor, koji je stekao reputaciju jednog od najstrožih u Francuskoj, i u kome su za vrijeme drugog svjetskog rata vichyske vlasti strijeljale brojne pripadnike Pokreta otpora. Zatvor je prestao raditi 1963. kada je kompleks preuzelo Ministarstvo kulture i prenamijenilo ga u muzej i umjetnički centar.

Magnifique endroit chargé d'histoire. Les rénovations en ont fait un site touristique moderne incontournable en Loire.

Visite très intéressante guide super dommage en cette période travaux a l'extérieur l'abbaye est très belle

À voir!! Manque un peu de signalétique... Et malgré des restaurations un peu too much dans l'abbaye (genre le sol qui fait grande surface commerciale...) le lieu est intéressant...
