Karakaline terme in Rim

Karakaline terme (italijanski: Terme di Caracalla) je naziv za kompleks javnih kupališta ili termi u Rimu, koje su sagrađene između 212. i 216. za vrijeme vladavine cara Karakale po kome su dobile ime. Površina kompleksa je iznosila oko 25 hektara, a sama zgrada je bila duga 228 m, široka 116 i visoka 38,5 m, te mogla istovremeno primati 1600 kupača. Osim kupanja, posjetiocima su na rasploganju stajale i dvije javne biblioteke - jedna sa latinskim, druga sa grčkim tekstovima. Terme su u upotrebi ostale sve do 6. vijeka kada su ih uništili Ostrogoti za vrijeme Gotskog rata. Ruševine su, međutim, dugo vremena ostale kao značajna rimska znamenitost, a za vrijeme Olimpijade 1960. su u njima održana gimnastička natjecanja.

Walk the lovely grounds and then go inside and admire the amazing architecture and beautiful mosaics. Also, the bathrooms are great, which is pretty rare for Rome.
