Former Town Hall, The Circle, Tredegar, Blaenau Gwent 23 November 2014 by Cold War Warrior Follow Me on Ipernity

The former Town Hall was built in 1818 by the owner of the Tredegar Iron Works Company, Samuel Homfrey. It also functioned as a school, Homfrey's workers having 2d per week deducted from their wages for their children's' education. Aneurin Bevan's electoral victories were announced from the balcony. It became the National Coal Board Club, and is a shadow today of its former glory. Perhaps the faded mouldy sign sums up the decline of "King Coal"
