The three bridges at Conwy.
L-R "New" Road Bridge (opened in the 1950's), Chain Suspension Bridge built by Thomas Telford (opened 1826), Wrought Iron Tubular Railway Bridge built by Robert Stephenson (opened 1849).
Note how both Telford and Stephenson both "castellated" the towers on their bridges to fit in with the adjacent medieval castle, built between 1283 and 1287.
The Telford bridge is a World Heritage Site, looked after by the National Trust.
Most road traffic now bypasses Conwy using the even newer tunnel under the estuary.
