Ceuta, Spain, January 11, 2011 Anti-immigration fence. An officer of the Guardia Civil checks the border fence between Morocco and the Spanish territory of Ceuta. The rocks in the back are on Moroccan territory. Ceuta became part of Spain in 1580, and is, along with the Spanish city of Melilla, the only landborder between the EU and the African continent. A giant fence called La Valla and a range of border security measures closes the Spanish city off from Moroccan soil, to stop the influx of African immigrants. From the series 'Mediterranean.
