Die Kirche zum heiligen Leopold - besser bekannt unter "Kirche am Steinhof" oder "Otto-Wagner-Kirche" - wurde auf Wunsch Kaiser Franz Josephs auf dem 144 ha Areal der Heilanstalt für Nerven- und Geisteskranke am Steinhof (14. Bezirk, Wien) für die dortigen Patienten errichtet. Die Kirche ist dem hl. Leopold geweiht. Sie wurde in den Jahren 1904 -1907 nach Plänen von Otto Wagner erbaut.
This is the most important building and church of the Art Nouveau era, and especially the Jugendstil of Austria. Jaw dropping bronze Angel statues over the door, completely clad in white marble with copper studs, and a large copper dome. Gilded light fittings and interior decor, as well as the high altar and the pulpit all made to the same style. Acoustics are amazing too.
